In 2018 Italy will only host the present bilateral workshop, to witness the importance the "Energy Issue"
will represent for both the countries in the next 5 years. An energy revolution is at the horizon first of all
as an knowledge revolution hopefully moving from the public education and scientific institutions.
The availability of energy resources , in two countries where no fossile resources are available, will accelerate the transition
to the clean energy generation and use on a capillar grid also in rural areas. This will represent the new mechanism driving
progress and improvement of life conditions without disrupting the peculiar, traditional and cultural heritage
of the two countries, limiting the migration to highly populated areas and preserving their most genuine face.
The pervasivity of energy generation by renewables sources coupled to a grid of accumulation and switching devices,
assisted by the use of natural gas/ bio fuels to improve the power of the plants is the mission of the next five years
academic research. Such a mission will touch the improvement of safety and cost of batteries for the accumulation,
the efficient stock of thermal energy components, the design of better catalysts and new composite materials for energy conversion.
These issues will mainly involve the refinement to the highest level of the material science, and this is no surprise as in all the ages of human being adventure a material best represented that revolution. The Silicon Age is at the end , which will be next?
